Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg ICE Hockey Club announced on Thursday that it has selected 2001-born forwards Michal Teply and Nino Kinder in the 2019 CHL Import Draft.
The ICE selected Teply fourth overall this morning. The Havlickuv Brod, Czech Republic native was also a fourth round draft pick (105th overall) of the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2019 NHL Draft.
The six-foot-three, 187-pound forward played 23 games for HC Benatky nad Jizerou in Czech2 during the 2018-2019 regular season. In those 23 games, he scored four goals and added six assists for 10 points.
Teply represented his country at the 2019 IIHF U18 World Championship in April. He recorded three assists in five tournament games.
In August of 2018, Teply was a member of Team Czech Republic at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup. In four tournament games, he registered one goal and four points. Teply also donned the colours of his home country at the 2018 World Junior A Challenge.
The ICE also selected Nino Kinder in the second round (64th overall) of the CHL Import Draft.
The six-foot, 163-pounder suited up in 33 regular season games with Eisbaren Juniors Berlin U20 of Deutsche Nachwuchs Liga U20 last season. Kinder scored 17 goals and added 24 assists for 41 points in those 33 games. He added two goals and eight points in five playoff games.
The Berlin, Germany native represented his country at the 2019 IIHF World U18 Hockey Championship in April. Kinder helped his team go undefeated in Division 1 play, scoring three goals and nine points in five tournament games. Kinder was tied for most points at the conclusion of the event.
Kinder is currently attending the Los Angeles Kings Development Camp.
