Winnipeg ICE Increase Creativity to Continue Strong Commitment to the Community During The 2020-2021 Season.

Winnipeg, MB – Creativity and a commitment from players and coaches was essential to deliver on programs during these uncertain times.

Although the Western Hockey League has played without fans, Winnipeg ICE players, staff and front office rallied together to execute a number of programs in Winnipeg.  Full summary is below:


ICE Commitment to the Community During The 2020-2021 Seaso

  • ICE players and coaches have connected with over 1,000 minor hockey players on the ice or virtually in Winnipeg.

  • ICE players have connected with over 800 students through the reading with the ICE program.
  • Successful Virtual Food Drive Presented by Dominos helping those in need during these challenging times with a monetary donation to Siloam Mission.

  • ICE practice Jersey initiative supporting Hockey Manitoba’s return to play funding.
  • Virtual Teddy Bear Toss raising funds for the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba Child Life Centre.
  • Launch of Ronald McDonald partnership supporting families in Manitoba and raising awareness around the new RMHC House.
  • Over $12,000 donated to the following organizations to support first responders, mental health and youth in the community;
    • Manitoba Nurses Union
    • Kid Sport
    • Hockey Manitoba
    • Siloam Mission

The Manitoba Nurses Union receive gift cards (purchased by the ICE) that all Manitoba Nurses will have a chance to win to help support their self care and to promote positive mental health. The winners will be selected during the upcoming national Nursing Week in May.  We look forward to celebrating Manitoba Nurses and recognizing their efforts to keep Manitoban’s safe during the pandemic in May.

The Winnipeg ICE also launched the Winnipeg ICE Foundation 50/50 Jackpot Draw presented by Cardinal Sport with the jackpot currently at $8150.00.

The Winnipeg ICE Foundation Jackpot is an important fundraising initiative su
pporting the post secondary education of current and former Winnipeg ICEplayers. The Winnipeg ICE Foundation funds approximately 25 players’ post secondary education every single year including tuition, textbooks and compulsory fees. For each season played in the WHL, a player receives a one year post secondary scholarship.

  • 200 Tickets for $50.00
