Registration Open for Winnipeg ICE Hockey School

Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg ICE announced on Monday that the Winnipeg ICE Hockey School is now open for registration.  The hockey school will be an opportunity for youth players born from 2008 to 2013 to participate in an experiential week-long hockey school with their favourite Winnipeg ICE players.

The instructors will be current ICE players, ICE alumni, and ICE prospects, along with members of the Winnipeg ICE Hockey Operations staff.  The Winnipeg ICE Strength Conditioning coach and Physical Therapist will lead all off ice activities working with the coaches and be available for any medical needs throughout the entire camp.

Participants will receive over $200 in additional value that is included in the registration fee including:

The Winnipeg ICE Hockey School will take place over two separate weeks from August 17 – 21st, 2020 and August 24 – 28th, 2020 at the Warren Community Centre and is open to players born in 2008 to 2013.  

Drop-off each day is 9:00 a.m. and pick-up will be at 4:30 pm.

Daily format for each day of The Winnipeg ICE Hockey School will include;

  •     2 x 60 minute on-ice session 
  •     1 x 60 minute dryland session with Winnipeg ICE Trainer
  •     1 x 60 minute team building session
  •     1 x 60 minute classroom session
  •     1 x 15 minute snack break
  •     1 x 45 minute lunch break

Instructor ratios will be a maximum of 1:7

The on-ice portion of the camp will focus on:

  •         Quickness & Agility
  •         Skating / Edgework
  •         Passing & Shooting
  •         Puck Control
  •         Position-specific training (Defence / Forward / Goalies)
  •         Teamwork
  •         And more …

Prior to the start of the Winnipeg ICE Hockey School up to date COVID-19 facility information and protocol will be sent to all participants.

Parents will be required to provide running shoes, a change of clothes, a water bottle, a lunch, and snack each day that is brought by the participant to camp. 

Sanitizer will be provided but we encourage all camp members to bring their own as well.  Coaches will be available to tie skates as needed to limit people in the dressing room.
