ICE open weekend winners in Regina

Gage Alexander made 26 saves and Skyler Bruce scored what proved to be the game winning goal early in the third period on the power play to lead the Winnipeg ICE to a 4-2 win over the Regina Pats Friday night at the Brandt Centre.

With the win, the ICE improve their record to 5-0 and lead the East Division by three points over the Saskatoon Blades.

Chase Bertholet, Mikey Milne and Owen Pederson also scored for Winnipeg.  Borya Valis and Cole Carrier replied for Regina, who have now dropped four games in a row and see their record fall to 2-4.

The ICE won the special teams battle going 1/2 on the power play while killing all three Pat power plays.

Mattthew Kieper made 17 of 20 saves in goal for Regina.

The two teams make their way to the ICE Cave inside Wayne Fleming Arena for an 8:00 face off Saturday night.  For tickets, click here.
