Game 6 – Regina @ ICE

Gage Alexander made 26 saves and Skyler Bruce scored the game winning goal on the power play early in the third period last night as the ICE doubled the Pats 4-2 in Regina.  The win improved Winnipeg’s record to 5-0, their best start in franchise history.

The last time the ICE opened the season without a regulation loss in their first five games was 2004-05.  That team had a 4-0-1 record outscoring their opposition 13-2.

The ICE will be without defenseman Karter Prosofsky for a second consecutive night.  This is the final game of a two game suspension handed down by the WHL for a charging major and game misconduct penalty vs Prince Albert on Saturday.  Prosofsky was also suspended for opening night in Brandon due to a major penalty assessed in preseason play September 25th.

The ICE play Regina seven times during the WHL regular season. (Oct 6 @ Wpg 5-2 W / Last Night @ Reg 4-2 W / Tonight @ Wpg / Dec 29 @ Reg / Jan 15 @ Wpg / Jan 16 @ Wpg / Apr 1 @ Reg).

The ICE are 13-0-0-1 in their last 14 games played vs Regina.  The last time the Pats beat the ICE was Friday, October 12, 2018 in Cranbrook, B.C. by a 3-2 score.

Since relocating to Winnipeg and the East Division, the ICE are 11-0 vs Regina.

Their first game against a Central Division team is tomorrow at home versus the Swift Current Broncos.  Last season, Winnipeg completed their 24 game schedule against the East Division with an 18-5-1 record, which included a 6-0-1 mark to finish the season.
