Beaupit blanks Warriors

Winnipeg ICE goaltender Mason Beaupit made 20 saves for his first shutout of the season in a 6-0 victory over the Moose Jaw Warriors Sunday night at the ICE Cave inside Wayne Fleming Arena.

The 19 year old San Jose Sharks draft pick needed to make just two saves in the first period, 14 in the second and seven during the final frame as Winnipeg improved it’s record to 33-5-1.

Ty Nash and Connor McClennon scored first period power play goals to give the ICE an early advantage.

Matthew Savoie and Owen Pederson added shorthanded goals during a four goal second period to secure Winnipeg’s second consecutive win of the weekend over Moose Jaw.

Zack Ostapchuk and Carson Lambos rounded out the attack.

The ICE finished the game 2/3 on the power play while the Warriors went 0/4.

Connor Ungar started the game in goal for the visitors allowing four goals in 18 shots. Jackson Unger came in relief to stop 10 of 12 over the final 27:11.

Next action for the ICE is a three game road trip to Alberta starting Friday in Lethbridge (7:30 on CFRW 1290 AM).
